Antique Japanese Taisho Era Haori Jacket with Hand Painted Tiger 1920s
Description
Antique Japanese Haori jacket, or robe, featuring a hand-painted design of a tiger atop a rock framed by bamboo, signed in script and also with a chop mark lower left. The robe is primarily contrasting black and gray with the painted panel on the back. Late Taisho/early Showa Era, circa 1920s. Fabric appears to be silk or similar lightweight material. Edges and seams appear to be predominately hand-stitched. Measures approximately 22″ armpit to armpit and 37″ overall length. Provenance: Private collection (Birmingham, Michigan). CONDITION: Some discoloration and faint staining visible on mostly the gray fabric, particularly on the sleeves. No visible tears or significant fabric damage. Painted design on the back appears intact with no visible flaking or fading. SHIPPING: In-House Shipping Available
