Pair of Chinese Cloisonné Vases with Peonies & Butterflies
Description
Pair of Chinese cloisonné enamel vases, late 20th Century, 12-1/4″ (DIA) x 10-1/4″ (H), on matching carved wood bases. The urns feature a red ground with intricate cloisonné enamel work, including peonies, butterflies, and scrolling foliage in vibrant colors such as yellow, blue, green, and pink. The rims and bases are gold washed and adorned with a leiwen or key border. The bases are intricately carved wood with openwork designs. Provenance: Private collection (Birmingham, Michigan).
