Arlene Brand (American, 1947-2015) hand-carved American black walnut wood penguin-shaped stamp box by American folk artist . This desk accessory features a stylized penguin form with a rich, multi-toned grain and smooth, hand-finished contours characteristic of Brand’s mid-century modern aesthetic. The piece is cleverly designed with a cylindrical pull-out drawer in the torso, specifically sized for a roll of postage stamps. Beak is used for reminder notes or other small stationary.
