For our February 2021 fine antiques sale we have assembled a group of fine pieces reserved from the collections we worked on in 2020.

As an intriguing centerpiece to this sale is a collection from an estate from the family of Ransom Eli Olds, the founder of Oldsmobile. It includes pieces from several of the grand homes owned by the family in the Lansing area. This sale includes furniture, with pieces from Italy, Belgium, England and the U.S., mainly dating from the early to mid 20th century, but also pieces purchased as antiques by the family. Items from the Olds family are identified by the initials REO in their titles in this auction.

Speaking of furniture, among the highlights are an 18th century Windsor chair in old paint, a Hepplewhite tambour secretary desk, a Stickley and Brandt Parlor set, a full dining set from Berkey & Gay in an Italian Renaissance style, a circa 1800 tall case grandfather clock from an important British estate, a lovely mother of pearl inlaid Victorian papier mache table and classic 19th century pieces from the U.S., Europe and Great Britain.  For mid-century modern fans there are licensed recent versions of a Ralph Rapson Greenbelt rocker and a George Nelson sunburst clock.

Worthy of special mention is an original watercolor by Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna, a Mathias Kloz Lautenmacher violin dated 1780, a long term collection of blue decorated stoneware crocks, several Russian religious icons, early Anglo-Irish crystal, European silver, Asian decorative arts including cloisonné, porcelain, lacquer and cinnabar, antique and collectible copper kitchen wares, art glass, pressed glass and pottery and porcelain including Royal Worcester, Rookwood, Tiffany, Sunderland, Davenport, Minton, Sevres, Staffordshire, Richard Ginori, Coalport, Cauldon, and Lenox.

Finally, within the category of Art – both fine and folk, lighting, textiles and other decorative arts are represented.

This auction is not a timed auction. It will operate just like a live auction only through your computer. We will have an audio feed of the live auctioneer who will talk everyone through the auction. We will open Lot 1 at 10 AM that morning and accept bids from multiple online platforms and absentee bids. We will give fair warning when bidding slows, and then the auctioneer will declare that lot SOLD! and open the next lot for bidding. You can bid in advance as always, or wait until the lot opens and bid in real time. It is safer to enter your max bad in advance so that you don’t miss your lot when you forget the auction or don’t bid quick enough and we close the lot. The auctioneer will control the pace of the auction. There is no countdown timer.

AUCTIONEER’S NOTE: PICK UP FOR THIS AUCTION IS Monday, March 1, 2021 by appointment only. You must bring your own boxes, tools, and labor. We charge $1 per box if you need boxes. Shipping is available either in-house or through the Battle Creek Pak Mail store.

AUCTION TERMS:  A 20% buyer’s premium and sales tax will be applied to all winning bids. All invoices will be charged to your credit card at the end of the auction. No payments accepted at pickup. Owners, trustees and estate auction firm is not responsible for accidents or items once sold. Everything is sold AS IS, WHERE IS with no guarantee or warranty of any kind. All Sales Final!
