1888 Royal Worcester Porcelain Candle Holder & Spill vase
Description
Antique Royal Worcester (England) porcelain two-light candle holder and spill vase, featuring a central crown-shaped opening surrounded by pierced decorative elements. The piece is decorated with hand-painted butterflies, foliage, and gilded accents. Handles are shaped like stylized dolphins with textured scales and gilded details. Dolphins were a common motif in 19th Century British porcelain, often used to celebrate the flourishing British maritime empire. Raised vertical floral relief panels on the body are framed with further gilded accents. Marked on the bottom with the Royal Worcester mark in purple and a date code for 1888, as well as “Rd No. 41792” and “1130”, the later most likely a model number. 7-3/4″ (H).
