Description
Late 19th Century transferware platter, in the “Blue Willow” pattern, telling the story of Koong-se, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy Mandarin, who fell in love with Chang, his low-born assistant, and their ill-fated love affair ending with the young lovers being immortalized as two doves flying together, 18″ x 14-1/2″. Provenance: Private collection (Birmingham, Michigan). CONDITION: Small chip on the underside of the rim. General surface wear consistent with age and use. No visible cracks or repairs.
