Lithograph After Constant-Joseph Brochart (FR 1816–1899) "L'Automne"
Description
Framed 1860 hand-colored French lithograph by the printmaker Jean-Baptiste Adolphe Lafosse (French, 1810–1879), titled “L’Automne” after a work by the portraitist Constant-Joseph Brochart (French, 1816–1899), depicting a possibly Romani woman in a headscarf with a basket of fruit in the foreground. Visible text includes “L’AUTOMNE. 1860”, “NOUVELLES ETUDES COSMOPOLITES”, and “Lith. par LAFOSSE, d’après BROCHART’. In a later gilt composite frame measuring 28-1/2″ x 32-3/8”. CONDITION: Not examined out of frame. There is a visible tear in the lower left corner. The artwork appears to have some discoloration or fading, particularly in the background areas.
