Lot 39:
Winchester Model 74 .22 LR Rifle
Description
Winchester Model 74, .22 Long Rifle, semi-automatic rifle. Serial number 80534. Manufactured post-1939 based on model introduction. Features a 24-inch barrel marked ‘Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, Conn., U.S.A. – Model 74 – Patent Pending – .22 Long Rifle – Trade Mark.’ The rifle has a blued finish, wood stock, and factory-installed open sights. This model is equipped with a tubular magazine in the stock and a safety lever located at the rear of the trigger guard. The original buttplate appears intact.
CONDITION: The rifle shows moderate wear consistent with age and use. The wood stock has multiple scratches, scuffs, and areas of finish loss, particularly noticeable on the forearm and butt. There is a significant strip of white paint residue on the stock, indicating past exposure to paint. The blued finish exhibits thinning, spotting, and areas of oxidation, primarily on the receiver and barrel. Bore is described as slightly dark but with rifling intact. Mechanically, the action opens and appears to be smooth; however, full functional testing has not been undertaken.
