Large Canadian Goose Wood Decoy with "RJK" Marking
Description
Large Canadian Goose decoy, measuring approximately 22 inches in length. The decoy is carved from wood and features detailed painted plumage with black, brown, and cream tones to accurately represent a goose in a resting pose. The underside of the decoy bears an engraved “RJK” marking, as well as what appears to be a secondary, lightly visible stamp. Crafted with a combination of smooth and textured carving techniques to enhance the realism of the feather patterns and overall appearance.
CONDITION: The decoy shows moderate handling wear with some surface scuffs and paint loss, particularly along the edges and high-contact points such as the bill and body. There is a visible crack in the neck that extends vertically, suggesting a repair or natural splitting due to age. The underside shows wear consistent with use. Overall, the structure remains stable, and the paint, while worn, retains a good level of detail and visibility.
