Lot 29:
S&W M&P .38 Spl Revolver, 4" Barrel
Description
Smith & Wesson M&P .38 Special revolver, serial number C38008, manufactured circa 1948-1951. This double-action revolver features a 4-inch barrel, blued finish, and a six-shot cylinder. The left side of the barrel is marked “38 S.&W. SPECIAL CTG,” while the right side is marked “SMITH & WESSON.” The frame bears the Smith & Wesson trademark logo and is marked “MADE IN U.S.A., MARCAS REGISTRADAS, SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD, MASS.” The wooden grips display checkering and are enhanced with silver Smith & Wesson medallions. Standard front blade sight and fixed rear notch sight.
CONDITION: The revolver exhibits moderate handling and holster wear, with thinning of the blued finish on high points of the barrel, cylinder, and frame. The grips show light wear consistent with use but are free from cracks or chips. Some light scratching is present on the cylinder face. The barrel and cylinder bores appear clean, with visible rifling. The action cycles smoothly, and the lockup is sound. The overall wear is typical for a firearm of this vintage but suggests it has been well-maintained.
