Description
Civil War-era 3-inch Dyer pattern cannon shell accompanied by a surplus military-style ammunition box. The cannon shell is cast iron, with visible signs of surface rust and patina consistent with age. The included olive-drab-painted steel ammunition box, marked ‘192 CAL .30 CARTRIDGES BALL M2 IN 8 RD. CLIPS BANDOLIERS LOT SL 37713,’ measures approximately 11 inches in length and 3.75 inches in depth. This artifact offers historical interest and is suitable for display or collection purposes.
CONDITION: The Dyer pattern cannon shell exhibits notable surface rust, oxidation, and weathering, consistent with prolonged exposure and its historical age.
