Epic Winter Sporting Auction - Guns, Knives, Lures, Relics
Lot 136:
6 Vintage 1930s-60s Fishing Lures, Arbogast & Sout
Description
A collection of six fishing lures dating from the 1930s to the 1960s, including two Fred Arbogast Jitterbugs with black finishes and prominent yellow eye accents, one South Bend ‘Hornet, SR’ wood-bodied lure with a yellow-painted body and red lettering, and three additional wood-bodied lures showcasing various finishes, including scaled patterns and vibrant paint schemes. One of the wood-bodied lures features a jointed body design and a realistic fish-scale pattern with articulated tail segments. Each lure is equipped with multiple treble hooks and propeller-style hardware typical of the period.
CONDITION: The lures display varying degrees of wear consistent with age and use. The Fred Arbogast Jitterbugs show light scratches and chipping in the paint. The South Bend ‘Hornet, SR’ lure exhibits notable surface crazing and paint loss, particularly in high-contact areas. The jointed lure displays surface wear, including discoloration and some minor oxidization on the metal components. The hooks and hardware on all lures show light rust and tarnish indicative of past exposure to water, but no structural damage is evident. Overall, this set remains a visually appealing collection of vintage lures suitable for display or continued use.
