Swiss M1914 Pioneer Sawback Bayonet
Description
Swiss M1914 Pioneer sawback bayonet manufactured by Waffenfabrik Neuhausen, serial number “96737.” Features an 18¾” fullered steel blade with 28-tooth sawback spine, steel crossguard and pommel, and wooden grips secured by two rivets. Pommel stamped with Swiss cross. Housed in blued steel scabbard with leather frog marked “Ed. Scheidegger Sattel 43.” Designed for use with the Schmidt-Rubin rifles and issued to Swiss engineer and pioneer troops. Overall length 25 inches.
CONDITION: Blade retains bright finish with light surface patina and minor spotting. Saw teeth remain crisp. Grips show minimal handling wear. Scabbard retains most blued finish with minor thinning and scattered marks. Leather frog is complete and supple, showing light service wear. Excellent, matching example.
