Collins No. 16 Eagle Head Sword Circa 1910-1925
Description
Manufactured by Collins & Co., Hartford, Connecticut, and marked “Collins No. 16 Acero Fino,” this Latin American officer’s sword features a cast brass hilt with an eagle-head pommel, wire-wrapped grip, and ornate foliate crossguard. The single-edged blade measures approximately 27¼ inches, and the sword is housed in its original leather scabbard with embossed decorative motifs and nickel-plated fittings.
Popular with police and military officers throughout Latin America in the early 20th century, Collins contract swords such as this were known for their sturdy manufacture and distinctive American styling.

CONDITION: Blade shows scattered surface oxidation and patina consistent with age. Grip and guard retain good detail. Leather scabbard remains intact with moderate surface wear.
