Description

Maria Theresa Thaler (dated 1780 X, posthumous restrike), mounted as a sterling silver pendant with hand-applied enamel on both sides. The obverse depicts Empress Maria Theresa; reverse shows the Austrian double-headed eagle with imperial arms. The edge is lettered with the original Latin motto: “JUSTITIA ET CLEMENTIA” (Justice and Clemency). The bail is marked STERLING; the coin is typical .833 silver for these issues. Enamel is bright and vivid. Measures 24” chain, 1 1/2” coin and weighs 35.3 grams total weight.
