‘Offering to Love’ Brooch and 'Cupid' Necklace
Description
Mid-20th century brooch set with a blue Wedgwood Jasperware plaque depicting “Offering to Love” (also known as “Sacrifice to Cupid?), a classical scene of five figures gathered around an altar. The plaque is marked WEDGWOOD on the reverse. The mount is an ornate gold-tone openwork frame with black enamel detailing and engraved floral motifs. The brooch has a distinctive spoked back construction, typical of European and American jewelry frames from the 1920s–1940s. The pin has an early safety clasp. The piece is in good condition with light age wear. Measures 1 3/4” x 1 3/8” and weighs approx. 12.4 grams.
1975 Wedgwood Jasperware pendant necklace featuring a blue heart-shaped plaque with white bas-relief image of Cupid writing on a tablet, symbolizing Love and Memory. The plaque is marked WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND S 75, dating it to 1975. The pendant is set in a gold-tone mount and suspended from a matching gold-tone chain, typical of Wedgwood gift jewelry of the period. The pendant is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Measures 18” and weighs approx. 4.8 grams
