Sterling Wedgwood Putti Brooch, R. Blackinton
Description
This is a mid-20th century sterling silver brooch set with a green Wedgwood Jasperware plaque featuring a classical scene of three putti (cherubs) engaged in playful activity around a goat. The frame is marked STERLING and R B Co, which is the mark of R. Blackinton & Co, a well-known American silversmith and jewelry manufacturer active from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century. The brooch also features a hand-painted enamel floral border around the plaque. The Jasperware plaque is marked WEDGWOOD on the reverse. The piece is in good condition with age-related patina on the silver. Weighs approx. 6.4 grams and measures 1 1/4” x 1”
