Lot 563:
Antique Hand-Forged Copper Cauldron with Swing Handle
Description
Antique hand-forged copper cauldron likely mid-19th Century (c. 1840–1870) featuring a heavy-gauge body with a fixed copper swing handle attached via substantial copper-riveted tabs. The underside reveals an authentic cramp or dovetail seam, a labor-intensive joinery technique characteristic of pre-industrial copperware. Visible hand-hammered martelage and planishing marks across the surface confirm its artisan origins. The slightly flattened bulbous base is designed for use on a flat stovetop or kitchen range. The interior displays significant oxidation and verdigris consistent with the wear of its original tin lining. 7″ (D). CONDITION: Interior displays significant oxidation and verdigris. SHIPPING: In-House Shipping Available
